Birthday Bash!

On September 10th the ReStore celebrated it's sixth year of serving the Midlands through supporting Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity.  About 48 volunteers showed up to help with the event, which included pie throwing, dog house building, and free hot dogs.  Thank you shoppers, donors, and volunteers for all that you do, it is because of your generosity that the ReStore has been able to fund 15 Habitat homes across the Midlands!  Click here to read more about the birthday celebration!

County Green Business Certification Program

On September 22, 2009, Lexington County Council approved the Lexington County Green Business Certification Program.  The goal of the program is to encourage Lexington County organizations to be outstanding stewards of the environment, thus preserving South Carolina’s natural resources.  The program recognizes Lexington County organizations that are taking the extra steps in the areas of waste reduction/recycling, energy efficiency, water conservation, and air quality.  The program is open to all Lexington County businesses, non-profits, congregations, schools, workplaces, and other organizations.

The Green Business Members are asked to achieve 10 green points in at least one of the certification areas.  Organizations that achieve 10 green points in all four certification areas are considered Lexington County Certified Green Businesses.  Green Business Members are recognized by Lexington County Council, listed on the green business website and given a decal and certificate to proudly display within their organization.

At the January 26, 2010, County Council meeting, the first 17 Lexington County Green Business Members were recognized as the Lexington County Green Business Charter Members.  The first 17 members demonstrated their awareness and concern for the environment by achieving 10 green points in at least one certification area and submitting a complete application prior to December 1, 2009.  The following organizations, followed by their area of certification, are the Lexington County Green Business Charter Members:
