World Habitat

World Habitat Day is a United Nations designated day to recognize the need for adequate housing for everyone. At the end of 2011, more than 500,000 families worldwide will sleep in safe, decent, affordable homes, thanks to your support of Habitat for Humanity. On Oct. 3, in recognition of World Habitat Day and the work Habitat for Humanity has done to alleviate poverty housing, Habitat will dedicate its 500,000th house in Maai Mahiu, Kenya and raise the walls on its 500,001st house in Paterson, New Jersey.  This is a huge milestone and will only further Habitat's commitment to "eliminating poverty housing" worldwide.

Over the past 26 years this affiliate has built over 200 homes across the Midlands, 15 of those homes were fully funded by The ReStore.  In celebration of World Habitat Day, Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity and ReStore will be hosting a March to Eliminate Poverty Housing.  The march will begin at The ReStore and conclude at the Capital.  This is an opportunity to protest poverty housing and promote the mission of Habitat to smite it.  Please join us for this event:

When: October 3, 2011

Time: Organize 7:45-8:15am, March at 8:15am
